Skroutz was initially launched in 25 Feb of 2005. In the following years Skroutz.gr became the number one price comparison engine and one of the most popular sites in Greece with over 1.5M unique visitors and 45M pageviews per month.
Skroutzs' portofolio includes two more products: Skroutzstore.gr which is a successfull hosted commerce platform with over 160 clients and Soby.gr which is the first and biggest deal aggregator in Greece.
We hit the office from 9.00 to 10.00 just in time for our "Daily Standup" meeting, outside, under the tree. On Mondays, we review previous week accomplishments and pat ourselves in the back. Teams present their deliverables and everyone gets to speak about things that are worth sharing.
Fridays are very important because after lunch (12:00 - 13:00) everyone is allowed to work on everything they want provided they'll present their findings. Some are building a D&D game, others are playing with Erlang, whatever makes them happy. Every Friday we have a short presentation on various topics and if it happens to be the first Friday of the month we get to talk about it over beers at the Skroutz Monthly Night Out.
Currently 37 39 people work at Skroutz and we hope to be about 40 by the end of 2012. We have a great team of 15 engineers and 2 designers while the average age of the team is below 30.
